Students may apply to transfer into many of our academic programs, with a few exceptions in the School of Health Sciences and School of Nursing, which are outlined below.
To earn your degree, you will need to meet academic requirements for graduation for your major, including completion of your last 45 credits at Quinnipiac.
Health sciences and nursing majors
Please note that GPA and departmental requirements are different for each of these highly competitive programs, and meeting minimum standards does not guarantee admission to these programs.
Accelerated nursing program
Applicants who are interested in the Accelerated BS in Nursing program must already have a bachelor’s degree.
Candidates for transfer admission have earned credits at a college or university after their high school graduation. We encourage you to use your application essay to summarize your experiences and why you would like to attend Quinnipiac.
For most majors, a minimum GPA of 2.5 is expected. SAT or ACT scores are required for students with less than 30 college credits who are applying for any health sciences major. They are not required if you’re applying to the College of Arts and Sciences or Schools of Business, Communications or Engineering.
Quinnipiac makes every effort to transfer college credits that you have already earned. Courses completed at a regionally accredited college or university with a grade of “C” or better, which are similar to courses offered at Quinnipiac, will usually transfer.
An unofficial evaluation of credits is completed as part of the application process for admitted students and is forwarded directly to the email on the transfer application.
You may request an unofficial evaluation of credits prior to applying. Choice of major will affect how credits are utilized. Please send us your unofficial transcripts with grades by email or fax — with your name, email address, telephone number and intended major.

As a member of Transferology, Quinnipiac University has course equivalents listed on Transferology where students can input the courses they are looking to transfer to QU. Visit the transferology website
Please note: If there is no equivalency in the system, that does not mean that your credits will not transfer! If you have specific questions, please connect with admissions@qu.edu or transfer@qu.edu.
International students should send official transcripts to World Education Services (WES) for certification and evaluation of credits, and request that Quinnipiac University receive the results.
How can I see how my credits will transfer?
Typically, any course in which a student earns a minimum of a C grade will transfer. Transfer admissions conducts a full credit evaluation at the time of application review. For specific questions regarding courses, students can reach out to transfer@qu.edu for more information.
Will Quinnipiac accept all my credits?
Good news! Quinnipiac University is a very credit-friendly institution. We pride ourselves on our transfer credit process. Typically, any course a student has earned a C or better in, from a regionally accredited institution, will transfer. Quinnipiac will accept up to 90 credits for transfer.
Which programs accept external transfer students and which programs do not?
Almost all of our programs at Quinnipiac accept external transfer students. The programs that do not accept external transfer students are our Physical Therapy program, Occupational Therapy program, Physician Assistant program, Diagnostic Medical Sonography and our dual-degree 3+1 programs.

Where are most of your transfer students coming from?
We have transfer students that are transferring from all over the US, as well as abroad. Most of our transfer students are coming from Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Do you offer scholarships to transfer students?
Yes! Our transfer merit awards range from $20,000 - $28,000 and are renewable each year as an undergraduate student as long as the student keeps a cumulative GPA of a 2.0.
Do you have articulation agreements with certain colleges/institutions?
Yes, we have an articulation agreement with Gateway, Housatonic and Norwalk Community Colleges. We are also part of the Connecticut Transfer Guarantee.
Are transfer students required to live on campus for a certain number of years?
No, transfer students are not required to live in on-campus housing. However, we welcome all transfer students to live in on-campus housing. Studies show that students perform better academically if they live on campus, opposed to off-campus housing!
I see that you accept transfers each Fall and Spring, depending on program of interest. Do you guarantee housing for transfer students no matter if they are transferring in the Fall or Spring?
Yes, we do. Transfer students are guaranteed housing if they would like to live on campus and can even live on campus senior year.
If I do not get accepted to my first choice major, can I be considered for another major?
Yes. Please put a first choice and a second choice major on the application. If we cannot accept a student for their first choice major we will always look to see if a student has supplied a second choice. If so, we will review them for admission to their second choice major.
