The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program offers two start dates tied to a cohort model. This cohort structure imparts the same exceptional preparation to enter the field of nursing while enabling students to build a strong network of fellow healthcare providers. Both the January and August Cohorts share a standardized admissions process, curriculum, and nursing faculty, though there are some key differentiators to consider when submitting your application, including clinical partnerships.
January Cohort and Hartford HealthCare
Students enrolled in the January Cohort enjoy access to our clinical partnership commitment with Hartford HealthCare (HHC). Nearly all of the clinical experiences pertaining to the curriculum for this cohort are completed within the Hartford HealthCare System, and students frequently liaise with nurse educators and talent acquisition specialists throughout the organization. Graduates of the January Cohort who meet the criteria for hire are guaranteed employment as new nurses in the Hartford Healthcare System.
August Cohort and Yale-New Haven Health
In response to the growing shortage of registered nurses, Quinnipiac University was one of four institutions selected for a groundbreaking partnership designed to increase the pipeline of nursing graduates. Each year, 24 students from the August Cohort of our ABSN program are selected as QU Yale Scholars. These students complete all of their clinical experiences within the Yale-New Haven Health System (YNHHS) and attend regular meetings with nursing leaders from YNHHS for additional support and mentoring. QU Yale Scholars also receive an initial scholarship stipend of $1,500 during the fall semester and a $2,000 scholarship stipend for the final summer session.
