Ari A Perez, PE
Associate Professor of Civil Engineering
After doing his undergraduate studies in Honduras (B.S. in Civil Engineering), Dr. Perez did his graduate work at the University of South Carolina (acquiring an M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering), with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering. Throughout his time in Columbia, Prof. Perez developed research interests in applying the principles and techniques of Geotechnical Engineering towards the conservation of archaeological sites (mostly through the process of engineered reburial) and Engineering Education.
In 2014 Dr. Perez had the chance to join the engineering faculty at Quinnipiac University to start a new School of Engineering (now the School of Computing and Engineering) and a new Civil Engineering program. As the university's sole Geotechnical faculty, He has had the opportunity to design, develop, and deliver the entirety of the Geotechnical curriculum. Dr. Perez has also been responsible for the setup and maintenance of the Geotechnical Laboratory. This opportunity has allowed him to develop his passion and skills for teaching engineering, as a classroom instructor, in curriculum design and other administrative matters, and as a research topic.
Ari Perez is also a Fearless Swiftie, and in the Summer of 2024 he got the chance to accomplish a personal dream by designing and teaching WGS200: Taylor Swift: cultural Mirrorball in the Women and Gender Studies Program at Quinnipiac University. As part of this class, he hostes the podcast ¿What Are Taylor Swift Studies Anyways? and started the instagram.com/quinnipiacswiftie page.
