Professor Johnson completed a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics at Colorado State University in 1989. His primary research area is the economic value of outdoor recreation and he has focused on the value of fishing and boating. His teaching interests include environmental economics, sports economics and public finance. He has won a University teaching award at Quinnipiac University. He is a former Executive Director of the Eastern Economic Association and is still active in the organization.
