Joan Metzler

Associate Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid

Joan Metzler earned her bachelor of arts from Widener University and her juris doctor from Temple University Beasley School of Law. After law school, she built a career advocating for vulnerable populations, practicing in the fields of child welfare and mental health law for the City of Philadelphia Law Department.

Metzler joined Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2007 as an assistant director of admissions, steadily advancing to her current role as associate dean. As a first-generation college and law student, she is deeply passionate about guiding students through the pivotal decisions of their educational journeys and helping them achieve their professional aspirations.

An active leader in the legal education community, Metzler is a founding member of the East Meets West Coast Law Consortium, a collaborative effort providing resources to law school applicants through panel discussions, in-person events, and an innovative TikTok channel that has reached thousands of prospective students. She has also participated in numerous panel discussions, presentations, and one-on-one counseling sessions to support students throughout the application process.

Metzler is a dedicated contributor to the Law School Admission Council (LSAC), where she has served on various committees and workgroups. Currently, she serves as a member of the 2025 LSAC Annual Meeting and Educational Conference Planning Workgroup and is a presenter in the PLUS Program.

Beyond her professional work, Metzler is an avid reader who finishes over 100 books annually. She also loves traveling and has visited and slept in all 50 states, fulfilling a lifelong goal to explore the United States.
