Laima M Karosas

Laima Karosas is Chair of Graduate Nursing Programs at the Quinnipiac University School of Nursing. She is certified as an adult nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board and family nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She is also a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

Prior to joining Quinnipiac in 2002, Laima was a nurse practitioner in various settings including veterans’ health, hospice and palliative care, urgent care, long term care and primary care. She has worked with nurses globally and collaborated with colleagues in Lithuania to study the perception of nursing in Lithuania, standardization of outcome language and spiritual care in oncology patients. Her clinical expertise and knowledge of qualitative research methods as well as quality improvement skills have resulted in a partnership between the students and faculty of the Lithuanian Health Sciences University in Kaunas, Lithuania, and Quinnipiac.

Laima’s work has been recognized regionally, nationally and internationally. She has been the Connecticut state representative for the AANP as well as the Region 1 Director (New England) on the AANP Board of Directors. She served as the Health Policy chairperson for the Connecticut Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Society (CTAPRNS) when the organization, in collaboration with many partners within the state, achieved elimination of the written collaborative agreement for advanced practice registered nurses in the state. She went on to become the CTAPRNS President and remains active on the health policy and education committees. She is an editor for the Nursing Education, Research and Practice (NERP) journal published in Vilnius, Lithuania. She is a recognized authority in advanced nursing practice and education as well as global nursing practice.
