Nicole M. Casbarro
Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing
Professor Nicole Casbarro has over 25 years experience in healthcare, most of it in pediatrics. She has worked at the University of California, San Francisco, in pediatric oncology, pediatric intensive care and pediatric cardiothoracic surgical intensive care. Upon moving to Connecticut, she worked at Yale's pediatric emergency department.
After becoming a nurse practitioner in 2013, Professor Casbarro continued to work with children and families in pediatric primary care and at school based health centers. She also works in the community performing annual wellness screenings on at-risk adults. She currently serves as Medical Advisor to the Meriden Public School system.
Her passion for health and wellness led her to develop garden based food literacy classes for children at a local elementary school. This is her current area of scholarship along with food insecurity, food justice and pediatric obesity.
Professor Casbarro holds a Yoga Teaching certification and Yoga Therapy certification as well as certifcations in Spirituality, Health & Wellness and Herbal Medicine.
