Quinnipiac University
Dr. Carleton matriculated from the University of Connecticut, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science, summa cum laude, in 1978. Dr. Carleton was conferred a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree by Purdue University in 1983. He practiced veterinary medicine and surgery at a busy multi-doctor animal hospital for the next thirty years. He joined the full-time faculty at Quinnipiac in 1988 and taught and practiced concurrently before retiring from practice in 2013. Dr. Carleton served as the Director of the Veterinary Technology Program for twenty-two years beginning in 1990. He currently teaches Human Anatomy & Physiology in the Department of Biological Sciences.
Dr. Carleton serves on the Health Professions Advisory Committee where he works with other members to review, assess, and write committee letters in support of Quinnipiac students applying to medical and dental schools. He also advises pre-veterinary students at the University.
Dr. Carleton has been published in peer-reviewed veterinary journals and been the featured speaker at several veterinary conferences. He has been active in his community, having been elected or appointed to the Board of Education, the Board of Finance, and the Planning and Zoning Commission.
