Thomas J. Reitz
Associate Teaching Professor of Chemistry
Thomas Reitz currently serves as the Organic Chemistry Laboratory Coordinator and Associate Teaching Professor in Chemistry. He is responsible for the running of the Organic Chemistry Labs and teaches Organic Chemistry I and Organic Chemistry II Lectures and Labs.
Thomas received a BA from Wittenberg University and a Ph.D. from Michigan State University in Organic Chemistry. His thesis title was A New Entry to The (CH)12 Hydrocarbon Energy Surface. He did Postdoctoral work with Dr. Grunewald in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Kansas. Thomas has been teaching since 1980 at a number of colleges and a preparatory school starting with Bennington College, Bradford College, Choate Rosemary Hall where he taught chemistry and coached volleyball and since 2005 at Quinnipiac University.
Thomas has been married for forty-one years to Alice Reitz who is a Women's Investment Advisor with LPL Financial, a dad to Eliot and Joel, and a grandfather to Sophie. Outside of teaching he enjoys gardening and reading by the beach.
