FAFSA Information

Congress implemented changes to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) based on the the FAFSA Simplification Act. The FAFSA Simplification Act is designed to make the process easier for families to complete. This aims to ensure that new and returning students have access to expanded eligibility for federal aid, reduces barriers for certain populations, and provides a more streamlined application experience.

Quinnipiac University’s FAFSA/Federal School Code is 001402.

The 2025–26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form will be available on or before December 1, 2024.

Deadlines for financial aid applications:

  • All first-year and transfer applicants: March 15

  • Returning students: April 1

Prepare for the FAFSA to Open

Below are some ways you can get ready for the FAFSA to open on December 1.

New incoming students
Returning students

If you are a returning student, the Department of Education will email students (and parents of dependent students) who applied on the 2024–25 form, reminding them to apply for 2025–26. To ensure you receive updates, log into your StudentAid.gov account and confirm we have your current email address.

Preparing and Planning Ahead

To complete the 2025-2026 FAFSA application, students should collect the following documents from each contributor* prior to beginning the application form.

  • Name, date of birth, Social Security number and email addresses

  • 2023 federal tax returns and W2s

  • Current balances of cash in checking and savings accounts

  • Records of child support received

  • Net worth of investments, businesses and farms

    • Please note that this is a change from last year when certain small family-owned businesses and farms were excluded from asset reporting.

*Undergraduate-dependent applicants are required to invite contributors. Undergraduate-independent, graduate, medical and law applicants who are married may need to invite a spouse to be a contributor on their FAFSA application.
