The recent addition of a new eSports lab uniquely positions the team.
“I think having the new eSports lab this year has given our teams a great opportunity to succeed because they have a space to practice together and prepare for their matches. This new home has given our team the resources to chase down a MAAC Championship,” said Mike Medina, director of campus life for recreation.
The success of collegiate teams like Quinnipiac demonstrates how much eSports has evolved along with the hours of commitment made by the teams.
“The evolution of eSports as a new club sports during COVID-19 and expanding to include five different titles has been similar to the growth of eSports in higher education,” said Medina. “It's been a very quick and successful 18 months thanks to the dedication of our student-athletes.”
