Memo: Welcome back!
To all students
To all students
By President Judy Olian |I hope the holiday was fun and relaxing, with lots of opportunities to connect with family and friends.
A special thanks to you — as well as to faculty and staff — for your patience, understanding, and adaptability during yesterday's power outage on the Mount Carmel Campus. And a big high five to our facilities and IT teams for their speedy work in resolving the issues.
We are beginning another great semester. There’s a lot to enjoy this Winter/Spring — Wake the Giant, QTHON, The Big Event, our Critical Conversations Speaker Series, and GAME Forum. Make sure that you get involved with as many of these important events as you can and with lots of other group and club activities of which you’re a part.
There’s also Quinnipiac Athletics which is going strong. Our winter sports teams – men’s and women's basketball, and men’s and women’s hockey — are doing well. Women’s basketball is second in the MAAC with a 7-1 record, men’s basketball leads the MAAC at 7-1, and men’s ice hockey is No. 1 in the ECAC with a 9-3-1 conference record. Check out gobobcats.com for winter and spring sports, and the many athletic events on the schedule.
Many of you are also competing for spots on our club sports teams and working out at the Rec and Wellness Center. You collectively logged over 37,000 miles on the bikes and treadmills during the fall. And Pilates is becoming quite popular with attendance more than tripling this past year.
As I’m sure you’ve noted, the South Quad is almost done — with both the SITE and School of Business buildings scheduled for their official openings this May. These facilities will enable many opportunities for innovative classes, learning experiences and social connections, and the SITE will quadruple the facilities available for faculty and student research.
Whether it’s academics, clubs, athletics, or events, please participate. And don’t forget to join my office hours on any topic you’d like to cover or just say hello when our paths cross on campus. With so much happening at Quinnipiac this semester, I‘m sure we’ll see each other.
Warmly,
Judy
