As we heard on Friday, President Olian announced that she will be stepping down next summer. We are deeply grateful for her dedicated service and the remarkable progress our university has made under her leadership. With President Olian’s guidance, we have positioned ourselves as the University of the Future and in the coming weeks and months, we will take time to celebrate her numerous and commendable accomplishments.

My fellow Board of Trustees and I are committed to ensuring a smooth transition as we prepare for the next phase of leadership at Quinnipiac University. Our goal is to appoint a new president who will assume the role in July 2025. This timeline will allow us to conduct a thorough and inclusive search, ensuring we find a leader who aligns with our university’s values and vision for the future.

Here is some important information regarding the presidential search:

1. Search Assistance: We have retained Spencer Stuart, a global executive search firm, to assist in finding our next president. Their expertise and experience in higher education senior searches will be invaluable.

2. Community Listening Sessions: Your valuable input is crucial to the success of this search. On September 9th, representatives from Spencer Stuart and I will be on campus to actively seek feedback from the Quinnipiac community. We want your point of view on the necessary qualities of the next president and the priorities for our institution. Please join us at one of these community listening sessions on September 9, 2024:

      • North Haven MNH 101

    • Mount Carmel Community Listening Session for faculty and staff

  • While on campus, Spencer Stuart will also engage in small group meetings with representatives from the Management Committee, Leadership Council, Faculty Senate, Staff Council and the Student Government Association.

3. Spencer Stuart Survey: Please take a moment to complete the Spencer Stuart survey, which will help inform our search process. This survey has been designed as one of many ways to solicit input regarding the desired profile of the next president of Quinnipiac University Multi-Stakeholder Group Formation: A multi-stakeholder group comprising faculty, staff, and students consisting of recognized leaders from across campus will be announced shortly, to provide input to the search committee.

4. Nominations and Questions: Please submit nominations for potential presidential candidates to QUPresident@SpencerStuart.com.

5. We are committed to keeping you informed throughout this process and will provide regular updates as we reach key milestones. In the meantime, if you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to reach out to PresidentialSearch@QU.edu.

Thank you for your continued dedication to our university. Together, we will ensure a smooth transition and a bright future for our community. We appreciate your partnership and look forward to working together to find the next leader who will continue Quinnipiac’s trajectory of success.
