The Legends took the stage at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella earning second-place and securing their ticket to the semifinals.

After months of hard work, the Legends have a brief moment of celebration before they prepare for the upcoming competition.

President Nina Pezzello '24 said the win was a moment she will cherish forever.

“Hands down, this win was one of the best moments of my life,” said Pezzello. “We all cried, jumped up and down and hugged each other. I had never felt this feeling before, it was just complete happiness and pride.”

The Legends have worked hard to represent music and talent at Quinnipiac so winning this competition serves as a testament to their dedication and skill.

Earning their placement among the top A cappella teams in the country, Pezzella attributes the groups’ success to their passion, support and love for one another.

“I believe our persistence and passion sets the Legends apart from other collegiate A cappella groups,” she said. “This A Cappella group is a family. Never in my life have I felt such support and love for a group of people.”

Grit and determination describe this group of talented students as they prepare and focus on refining their performance.

“This achievement has made us even more motivated to keep going,” she said. “We don’t want to stop here because we know we can accomplish anything we put our hearts and minds to.”

This year, the Legends took a different approach when selecting their songs. Pezzello outlined that the group chose a theme for their performance before selecting their songs, which has led to success this season.

“We didn’t just want to sing a bunch of hit songs, we wanted to tell a story,” said Pezzello. “I believe making our set have meaning behind it pushes us to the top because we all care about it so deeply.”

In preparation for this upcoming competition, the Legends rely on their collaboration and teamwork to bring home another title.

“I would not be the person I am or have grown the way that I did at Quinnipiac without this group behind me,” said Pezzello. “Each and every person in the group contributing to making this possible and I am unbelievably proud to be their president."

The Legends are heading to Boston on March 23 to compete in the semifinals.
