Quinnipiac faculty and students smile for a photo at the 2024 PRSA Mercury Awards.

The Agency, Quinnipiac’s student-run organization specializing in public relations, advertising, marketing and graphic design, brought home three awards from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Greater Connecticut Chapter Mercury Awards.

The Agency provides students with unique opportunities to gain hands-on experience in managing strategic communication campaigns and projects for real-world clients. Students acquire practical skills within the fields of public relations, advertising, strategic communication, event planning, design and marketing.

In addition to providing this professional experience, students produce various materials that can be showcased on their resumes and portfolios, providing them with industry recognition and cutting-edge experienced before entering the job market.

This year, The Agency was recognized for its outstanding achievements, earning gold, silver and bronze Mercury Awards for their client work in social media, research and evaluation and video development.

The Agency earned the following awards:

  • Gold: Quinnipiac’s The Agency Social Promotion

  • Silver: Athletic Brewing’s Campus Trail Leader Program Research

  • Bronze: Hamden Police Department Recruitment Video

Professor of Public Relations and former Agency Advisor in Spring 2025, Alexander Laskin, highlights the significance of this accomplishment as these are not student-specific but professional awards. The Agency competed against real businesses, non-profits and strategic communication agencies within Connecticut to earn these awards.

“The campaigns that our students conduct are compared with the campaigns done by seasoned industry professionals who do it for a living,” said Laskin. “This also proofs the quality and professional relevance of education at Quinnipiac where students can hit the ground running and produce award-winning campaigns while still being students and taking other classes at the same time.”

Laskin recognizes three students who led the efforts for which The Agency won its awards including Emma Kehoe ‘24, MS ‘25 who served as the account executive for the Hamden Police; Riley Propersi ‘25, MS ‘26 who led the social media effort for The Agency; and Melina Maldonado ‘24, MS ‘25 who led the Athletic Brewing account.
