The university has procedures in place to track and augment cleaning to control the spread of illnesses. In areas in which a significant number of students have been identified with diagnoses of the above-mentioned illnesses, additional deep cleaning is being performed.
This preventive practice is standard for this time of year, and Quinnipiac University will continue to follow all protocols recommended by the Connecticut Department of Public Health.
Students, staff and faculty can help by following the guidelines recommended by state and local health departments to help prevent the spread of these common viruses:
Wash your hands frequently or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Avoid close contact with those who are ill.
Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
Do not share any personal items, such as drinks or utensils.
It is important to remember that germs can be present in those not showing symptoms. Students not feeling well can make an appointment with Student Health Services online via MyQ. Hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekends on the Mount Carmel Campus and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays on the York Hill Campus. Students may also contact Student Health Services at 203-582-8742. Faculty and staff who are feeling ill should see their primary care physicians.
The university will continue to closely monitor the prevalence of illnesses on our campuses and take any additional steps as necessary.
