Students who are admitted to Quinnipiac are automatically considered for entry into the accelerated dual-degree program, and those who meet the qualifications will be invited into the program. Paths to the MS in Molecular and Cell Biology

We offer 4 different paths for you to earn your master’s degree in molecular and cell biology.

Accelerated Dual-Degree BS in Biochemistry/MS in Molecular and Cell Biology (3+1)
3 undergraduate years + 1 graduate year
This program restructures the traditional bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and the master’s degree in molecular and cell biology into an accelerated timeframe. The 3+1 program does not require any additional courses.

Dual-Degree BS in Biology/MS in Molecular and Cell Biology (4+1)
4 undergraduate years + 1 graduate year
Students who do not qualify for the accelerated program are encouraged to enroll in the biochemistry program as first-year students and apply to the dual-degree program in their junior year. This five-year program will provide a path to a master’s degree without required testing.

*The admissions committee will make every effort to have a decision to applicants within two weeks from the time an application is complete. Priority is given to those applying by February 1. Accelerated Dual-Degree Program Requirements

Admission to the university is competitive, and applicants are expected to present a strong college prep program in high school. Prospective first-year students are strongly encouraged to submit an application as early in their senior year of high school as possible and arrange to have first-quarter grades sent from their high school counselor as soon as they are available. When you maintain good academic standing in the program, you are automatically enrolled in both the undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

The accelerated dual-degree program is designed for outstanding students. First-year applicants will be considered for an accelerated dual-degree program based on demonstrated academic achievement to complete the bachelor’s degree at an accelerated pace.

While scores are not required, if a student wants to submit, they should have at least a 1200 SAT or 25 ACT to be considered.

Admission Requirements

Your GPA alone doesn’t tell the full story of your academic strengths and talents. That’s why we look at many factors when considering each application for admission, especially as those factors relate to your specific program. We look at subject-specific courses you’ve taken and AP credits you’ve earned, as well as awards and other achievements.

Expected of all students:

High school transcript
A personal essay on a topic of particular meaning and interest to you that tells us who you are and speaks to your values, goals and aspirations as a student
At least one letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor or someone who can reflect on your dedication and work ethic
4 years of English
3+ years of mathematics
3+ years of science
2 years of social science and foreign language
3 academic electives
